The Word.....is not Bird

The word I pick for next Saturday Scavenger Shots is...

"RUN"

I, for one, have been running a bit of a race lately. Work became very busy, very quickly. Thank the Lord. We have more orders on the board now than we have at any point in the last 3 years. My goal now is to keep my wits about me so we can capitalize on it and actually run in the black.

During that spike in orders, I was without an assistant. Which induced a lot of mental running. Kinda like diarrhea. I think I was lucky and found a good candidate without having to go through a bunch of applicants. She starts tomorrow. No more data entry for me! Woohoo!

That Dale Carnegie class is coming to an end. The last class is this Monday. It's been good. I've enjoyed it. A lot of good classmates. Different than the last attempt I made. That last class was kind of strange, in that most people spoke of their darkest secrets as soon as they could. This class was more reserved. Which I appreciated because it seemed like most people actually progressed, rather than ending with nothing left to talk about.

I'll still be glad when it's over.

A is sick again. She got over strep about a month ago and now has a light fever and upset stomach. Poor girlie. Bought a second hat in about 4 days. The first one got used as a puke bag. Oh well, I like the second one more anyway. And since it cost over twice as much, that aint' happening again.

I always wish I could be sick for them, so they don't have to be. That's saying a lot cause I'm a freakin' pansy when it comes to being sick.

I ended that fitness challenge with a fizzle. With all the mental gymnastics I was doing at work, I had absolutely no desire to work out. I ended in second place, but the winner burned almost 4x as many calories. Dang overachievers... ;) Congrats Tin! And thank you for putting that together Nikki.

Motivation is an issue with me. I don't feel unhealthy and I don't have anyone I'm trying to impress. The Dicky Don't disease isn't going to go away by itself though.

I don't like Katy Perry.

Just thought you should know.

  3. Thanks for a great word!

Glad business is good and that you have found an assistant!

I have always wished I could be sick for my kids too. It makes you feel so helpless to see them miserable like that.

You'll get your groove back in the exercise realm, I'm sure. Just need to feel like you have more time and energy to devote to it, right?

What? You don't wanna be a firework? Make 'em go 'ah ah ah' ?

  5. "Run" will be fun!...Didn't mean to rhyme there, but voila!

I haven't listened to many Katy Perry songs. In fact I've only really heard the one called "Hot & Cold".

  6. I read Dale Carnegie's "How To Win Friends..." when I was 17 or 18. All pretty much true then and now. Seemingly simple insights, but sometimes that's what we need to learn.

  8. So happy to hear work is going well!!!!

As for the fitness challenge, it was fun while it lasted! I'm not sure i'm going to do another due to lack of participation, but I'm afraid if I don't i'll have no motivation to work out! Lol. I mean, my motivation SHOULD be wanting that slimmer body... but to try to work out with no accountability? For get about it! Plus I always love a good challenge... we shall see!

  9. CP - For some reason, Katy Perry reminds me of Zooey Deschanel. I don't like the association, because I like Zooey Deschanel.

Tera - Hi! I was hoping someone would find that funny. Thanks for telling me!

Hi laura b! You're welcome. I think that anyone who really knows me would consider me diametrically opposed to 'firework'.

secret agent - ditto to "blegh"

Tara - I wonder how many RUN DMC submissions we'll have?

Suldog - Hey! Most are pretty simple. Too bad it seems like we only really learn them the hard way sometimes.

Hey Nikki - Thanks! I think we have the same problem. If you figure out a good solution, lemme know!!
