Moved on out!

It's done. Moved most of the stuff myself, but it's done.

The new place is small. No dishwasher. No garbage disposal. The shower head doesn't even reach above my head.

It's almost like camping.

Like camping with a 47" LCD TV and sound system that rattles all the windows. Ha!

I had every intention of getting some pictures of the place for this post, but just didn't get to it. It's pretty funny though. This trailer was made way back when mobile homes were purchase because it was a mobile home. Way back when the tail and marker lights were actually built into the house. Nowadays they just use removable lights cause people don't want a mobile home that looks like they can hook their truck up to it and take off.

The most annoying thing is that every one of the little brackets on the drawer slides are broken. They all fall down when they're opened. C'mon people! They're all of a $1.50 each to replace them and there might be 12 drawers in the whole place.

So yesterday I unwittingly had a Daniel Craig movie marathon. Started out with Casino Royale, which I new I liked because I've seen it more than a couple of times.

Went to Defiance. Which didn't have quite the emotional impact on me as I'd expected. It was a good movie, but I think Craig makes a better James Bond. It was a Netflix selection I'd had for a while.

And finished with Quantum of Solace.

A funny thought crossed my mind this weekend too. A couple of posts ago I clarified that I was not dating. Then 5 stunningly attractive young ladies commented on that particular post. *sigh* Almost made me rethink my 'no dating until divorced' policy. :D

Hope y'all had a great weekend! My interwebs get reconnected tomorrow so I should be a lot better at visiting and commenting at your place after that.

  1. Well, welcome home! I think your place sounds very cozy...and well equipped :-) Oddly, maybe, I have never had a dishwasher!

Thanks for all the pictures of Daniel Craig. All us lady friends owe you. haha!

  2. I'd love to see the photos if you get around to taking any. Trailers fascinate me. I've never lived in one, but had an aunt who did and I was always amazed that it seemed so much larger once inside than you would have thought from outside of it.

  4. That's funny about the TV and sound system. Glad you got out ok... And I've read something about the James Bond franchise maybe being dead? Or does it always come back to life?

  5. laura - Thanks! I don't really miss the dishwasher when it's only me, but they're sure nice to have when there's 4 or more.

Suldog - Working on the pics. I keep forgetting either the camera, chord, or both.

Danielle - Well, you know, we have to overcompensate with something and I can't afford a big truck.

NoRegrets - I'm not sure it's officially dead, but they stopped production of the latest movie earlier this year. I'm sure the franchise still has life in it. Daniel Craig is a great James Bond.

  6. I like Daniel Craig as Bond. He's awesome. And your TV sounds awesome too. I'm still slumming it with a 640x480 thing that's not flat. My kids are embarrassed. When the world is running down... you make the best of what's still around...

  7. dadshouse - As sacrilegious as this is, I think he's at least par with Connery, if not better. The wife gave her 36" tube away a few months ago. No way was I parting with my LCD.

  8. Congrats on the move! Try not to worry too much about no garbage disposal or dishwasher. Going without those might save you some money on electricity.

I was sceptical about "Casino Royale" and how the new Bond guy was gonna pan out, but it's one of my favorite movies now.

  9. I <3'd Casino Royale!!! I saw Defiance in theaters and loved it too. Have never seen Quantum of Solace...hmm.. /slap on wrist.. NO! I've got 82 more movies to go before I can just watch whatever I want. Sigh. I'll have to watch other movies vicariously through you.

    :)

  10. Tara - I can do without the dishwasher, but dang if a disposal isn't handy.

Nikki - If you wait a while to watch Quantum, watch Casino Royale again first. Quantum s a direct continuation of the same story. And since you watched it vicariously, you loved it!

  11. I'm hoping that being in your own place will really bring you peace and the sense of moving on with your life.

When I re-did my kitchen, I deliberately left out a disposal - the get bad smelling over time and fruit/vegetable waste all goes into the compost bin anyway. But boy, do I use my dishwasher!

Finally, the movie posters made me laugh? Does the guy have a non-angry expression?

  12. Didn't mean to put that first question mark - the posters definitely made me laugh.

  13. I cannot wait to see the photos! Congratulations on your liberation. Feels good doesn't it?

I loved the movie Defiance. I think you're right about the posters. Ha.

Life without a dishwasher? Yikes! My advice on that one is to always wash your dish as soon as you are done with it... dry it and put it away. It only takes a minute compared to the ominous "sink dread" if you let them build up to a sink load. :-)

I'm glad you are enjoying your new home. YaY!
